Committee Information and Volunteer Opportunities

Members, join a committee today! Support the apartment association and help shape the direction of the apartment industry by joining one of the committees described below.

Legislative

The DMAA has a very active local legislative program monitoring all cities residing in Monroe, Oakland, and Macomb counties. We proactively scan for legislation that will adversely affect the apartment industry in the Detroit Region. The Legislative Committee also fundraises for the National Apartment Association's Political Action Committee, and serves as liaison to the Property Management Association of Michigan's Legislative Committee; who works to further the goals of the industry statewide.

Education

The Education Committee works to create an education schedule that will be beneficial to the professional viability and success of our members. Members of the Education committee research and develop educational courses and seminars, and volunteer time at educational events and seminars.

Special Events

This Committee works to plan special event programs for the association, such as our Holiday Party in December, Maintenance Olympics in March, and our Zoo Party in August. Committee members bring enthusiasm to events, volunteer their time to work special events, and research and develop new ideas for special events.

Membership

Members of the Membership Committee work to retain current members, seek out new membership prospects, and help bring new members into the Detroit Metropolitan Apartment Association. Members of this committee must be passionate about the association, supportive of its goals, and be fantastic sales people!

Trade Show Committee

This committee in collaboration with the Board of Directors of the Detroit Metropolitan Apartment Association, works to increase the productivity and profitability of the IREM/DMAA Trade Show. This committee researches and reports on current trade show trends from around the country. Committee members also volunteer their time to work at the DMAA booth or special event at the IREM/DMAA Trade Show in March.

Business Partners

This committee serves the needs of the supplier members of the association. Members of this committee suggest innovative ideas to increase business communication and sales amongst members. Committee members are also responsible for our supplier code of ethics, as well as generating new ideas for networking, lead generation and sharing.
