April is Fair Housing Month, don't miss an opportunity to hear Yvonne Poindexter, Director of the Detroit, HUD Fair Housing & Equal Opportunity Center. Yvonne will present the topic, "Marketing Your Properties to Affirmatively further Fair Housing". She will discuss:
- Increasing housing choices
- Building community relationships
- Identifying Policies and Practices in Support of Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing
Our speaker Yvonne, has worked in the area of fair housing, investigating fair housing discrimination complaints, since the mid-1970’s. She has worked for a small municipality in Illinois, located west of Chicago, held a real estate sales license, and she has worked for a not-for-profit fair housing agency in Illinois. Yvonne has been working for HUD as an investigator since 1989. She currently is the Director of HUD’s Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity Program Center in Detroit. This FHEO Center is responsible for investigating fair housing discrimination complaints in the states of Michigan and Wisconsin. In addition to the enforcement responsibilities, the FHEO Center also has the responsibility for monitoring HUD recipients’ compliance with fair housing statutes and regulations.
