On April 22, 2010, the US Environmental Agency's (EPA) Renovation, Repair and Painting (RRP Rule) will become fully effective and enforceable. The RRP Rule requirements will apply to all "renovations" including many typical housing maintenance and repairn activities, for "compensation" in pre-1978 "target housing" and pre-1978 "child-occupied facilities" where lead-based paint will be disturbed and residential rental property owners, will have to apply to EPA to become "Certified Renovation Firms". Additionally, the firms' workers will have to be trained as "Certified Renovators" by EPA accredited training providers or receive on-the-job training in lead-safe work practices from Certified Renovators. With the EPA Rule's compliance deadline looming, will you and your company be ready to comply? Now is the time to take action, including obtaining the needed EPA Certified Renovator training for your employees and for your contractors' and subcontractors' workers.
